Go Cardless Security

A few members have raised concerns about signing up for Go Cardless. This move forward is intended to protect your data even better than our current, paper based systems:

GoCardless process Direct Debit payments in the same way any other UK Direct Debit bureaus process Direct Debit payments, using the BACS Direct Debit Scheme.

BACS offer customers making Direct Debit payments protection under the Direct Debit Guarantee. The Direct Debit Guarantee protects customers in three ways:

1. Notifications: Customers must be notified before any new payments are collected. GoCardless will notify customers by email when new one-off payments or new subscriptions are set up.

2. Refunds: Customers are entitled to a full and immediate refund for any payments they claim have been taken in error, by contacting their bank.

3. Cancellations: Customers can cancel their Direct Debit authorisation at any time, by contacting Go Cardless, ANLP or their bank.

You can read more about the Direct Debit Guarantee on the Go Cardless website

As a payment processor, GoCardless is also authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority - registration 597190. All sensitive data, including bank details, are RSA encrypted. The Go Cardless security systems undergo regular internal and external audits to ensure the data they have is safe. Their last external audit was completed on the 24/08/16 and did not highlight any concerns in their security systems.
