NLP for Health

Exploring how NLP-informed approaches can support health, wellbeing and community care.

The NLP for Health Project is a collaborative initiative led by ANLP members who are exploring how Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) can support health and wellbeing within community healthcare settings.

The project focuses particularly on the potential role of NLP-informed coaching and communication approaches in supporting GP practices, healthcare teams, patients and local communities.

The initiative brings together NLP professionals who are passionate about contributing constructively to the health and wellbeing sector while working responsibly within professional and ethical boundaries.

Project founders, team leaders and facilitators include:

Gill Stevenson, Lisa Edwards, Nina Mayler & Kash Falconer

Partnership with the College of Medicine

The project has recently taken an important step forward through a partnership with the College of Medicine, an organisation dedicated to promoting whole-person and integrated approaches to healthcare.

This partnership provides an opportunity to explore how NLP-informed approaches may contribute to wider conversations about health, wellbeing and patient support within integrated healthcare systems.

Working alongside organisations such as the College of Medicine helps ensure that discussions around NLP and health are grounded in responsible practice, professional dialogue and collaborative learning.

Background

The team comes from a variety of professional backgrounds and has extensive experience of applying NLP within the fields of health, wellbeing and personal development.

Through their experiences they have seen how NLP-informed approaches can support individuals in developing greater awareness, resilience and personal responsibility for their wellbeing.

The project aims to explore how similar approaches might be shared more widely within community healthcare settings.

Vision

NLP — a prescription for change in health and wellbeing.

Mission

To explore ways that healthcare environments can access responsible NLP-informed support for patients, healthcare teams and local communities.

Why This Matters

The project team believes that many people could benefit from greater access to supportive communication, coaching and behavioural change approaches that help individuals take a more active role in their health and wellbeing.

The initiative aims to:

  • share awareness of how NLP-informed approaches can support wellbeing
  • introduce healthcare professionals to relevant NLP concepts and models
  • support healthcare teams through workshops and communication approaches
  • help patients develop greater personal agency around their wellbeing
  • contribute to healthier and more resilient communities

The project also seeks to provide a community of practice for NLP professionals working in health and wellbeing, enabling members to share experiences, insights and learning.

How the Project Works

The project supports this vision by:

  • introducing ANLP professionals into appropriate health and wellbeing conversations
  • offering awareness workshops for healthcare professionals including GPs, nurses, Primary Care Networks (PCNs), Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) and social prescribers
  • providing information to the public about how NLP-informed approaches can support wellbeing
  • sharing best practice and experiences among NLP professionals working in the health sector
  • encouraging responsible, ethical application of NLP within health-related environments

Project Values

The NLP for Health project is guided by the following values:

Enlighten · Empower · Enable · Serve · Heal · Integrity · Authenticity
