NLP for Education Project

This project is a collaborative initiative led by ANLP to explore how NLP can be applied responsibly and effectively within the education sector.

NLP for Education Project

The NLP for Education Project is a collaborative initiative led by ANLP to explore how Neuro Linguistic Programming can be applied responsibly and effectively within the education sector.

The project brings together NLP professionals, educators and researchers who share a common aim: to identify practical, evidence-informed ways that NLP approaches can support learning, wellbeing and communication across educational environments.

Our focus spans the full education landscape — from primary schools through to further and higher education — exploring how NLP-informed approaches can support both learners and those responsible for delivering education.

Areas of Exploration

The project explores practical strategies and resources for engaging with key groups across the education system, including:

  • Teachers and educational practitioners
  • Students and learners
  • School governors and leadership teams
  • Parents and family support structures
  • Special interest and support groups
  • Local education authorities and national education bodies

By identifying responsible and practical applications of NLP in these contexts, the project aims to support informed dialogue about how NLP approaches may contribute positively to educational environments.

A Collaborative Community

The core project group consists of ANLP members with experience across both education and NLP, including:

  • Trained teachers currently working in education
  • Former teachers working within the wider education sector
  • School governors
  • Parents of children with special educational needs
  • NLP trainers and practitioners working within formal education environments

This diversity of experience ensures the project remains grounded in both educational realities and professional NLP practice.

Developing the Evidence Base

Interest in the project has grown significantly, with more volunteers coming forward than originally anticipated. As a result, the initiative is now evolving into a structured research project exploring the practical application of NLP approaches within educational contexts.

This work builds on existing research examining NLP in education, including studies exploring:

  • belief and examination success
  • communication and learning relationships
  • classroom engagement and student motivation

The project aims to contribute responsibly to the ongoing conversation about evidence and practice, helping to identify where NLP-informed approaches may support teaching, learning and educational outcomes.

Raising Awareness in the Education Sector

The project has already begun engaging with the wider education community.

Two committee members presented the initiative at the Festival of Education in 2024, introducing the conversation about NLP in education to teachers, school leaders and education professionals.

A dedicated NLP for Education website has also been created to support the development of the project and provide a central hub for future resources, case studies and research updates.

Contributing to the Project

The project continues to grow through the contribution of professionals who are willing to share experience, insight and practical examples.

If you are an NLP professional with experience in education and would like to support the project in a practical way, you are invited to register your interest.

Sharing Case Studies

Practical case studies play an important role in helping the project identify useful applications of NLP within educational contexts.

If you have relevant examples from your work, you are invited to contribute them to the project.

Download the Case Studies Template, complete the document, and send your case study to ANLP for potential inclusion within the project resources.
