Build Trust with Client Reviews When people are considering a service, they often want reassurance from others who have already used it. Back to Making the Most of Your Membership Share Tweet LinkedIn Pin Why do client reviews matter? When people are considering a service, they often want reassurance from others who have already used it. Client reviews provide independent feedback about your professionalism, approach and the experience of working with you. They can help potential clients feel more confident about taking the next step, particularly when they have not met you before. Your ANLP profile is your professional shop window. Your photograph, profile description and specialist skills explain who you are and what you offer. Client reviews add another important element: the perspective of people who have experienced your services directly. One review is helpful. A number of relevant reviews creates a broader and more credible picture of your work. What makes a useful client review? A useful review does more than say that the client was pleased. It may help a potential client understand: the reason the client sought support what it was like to work with you the professionalism and care you demonstrated the difference your services made the type of outcome the client experienced whether they would recommend you to others Reviews can also reinforce the specialist skills listed on your profile. For example, feedback about confidence, stress management or workplace communication can help demonstrate your experience in those areas. Reviews allow clients to describe the value of your work in their own words. This means you can maintain appropriate professional modesty while still providing visitors with meaningful evidence of the experience you offer. How do I ask clients to leave a review? You can invite clients to submit a review through your ANLP member dashboard. The Request or Leave a Client Review Guide explains the process and shows you how to send the review request. Clients are asked to create an account before submitting their feedback. We recognise that members sometimes question why this step is necessary. ANLP does not use reviewers’ details for marketing purposes. The account provides a basic level of verification that the review has been submitted by a real person rather than by an automated system, a false identity or a bot. This is standard practice across review platforms and helps protect the integrity of the feedback displayed. Without some form of verification, it would be much easier for false, misleading or fabricated reviews to be added. Clients may choose to have their review displayed anonymously. Their identity does not have to be made public for the review to provide credible feedback. When inviting a client to leave a review, it may help to explain that: they will need to create a simple account their details will not be used for marketing the account is required to verify that the feedback is genuine they may choose to have the published review anonymised Only invite genuine clients to provide honest feedback. Reviews can reflect their real experience and should never be written, edited or influenced by the member. They are reviewed by ANLP beofre they are made public. What difference will client reviews make? A collection of genuine reviews can: provide independent reassurance to potential clients support the claims made elsewhere on your profile demonstrate your professionalism and specialist experience help visitors understand what it is like to work with you strengthen trust before the first conversation takes place make it easier for someone to decide whether to contact you A review is similar to a professional recommendation. The difference is that it remains visible to other potential clients and can continue to support your profile over time. Reviews are not a guarantee that someone will choose your services, but they can help reduce uncertainty and provide the social proof many people look for before making contact. They also contribute to the broader credibility of the ANLP Member Directory and support ANLP’s work as the Gold Standard Independent Professional Body for NLP.
