As a trained archaeologist, my approach to traditional Chinese exercise systems (Qigong, Chi Kung), which I am also a teacher of, is a little different to the usual ‘new age’ approach. My idea is that people in China 4000 years ago were pragmatists. They didn’t have the luxury of living in a fantasy world because they needed to make sure they survived pandemics, floods, famines and other normal challenges of survival. So, the systems they use to explain the world are based on careful observation of what worked....
