NLP Techniques for Moving House? It feels like we have moved a lot of dates over the past 3 months, whilst managing business expectations for our long awaited house move... Back to blog posts Posted by Karen Falconer on October 15th 2024 Personal Reflections Share Tweet LinkedIn Pin It feels like we have moved a lot of dates over the past 3 months, whilst managing business expectations for our long awaited house move…the joys of working from home! At last, we have exchanged contracts and can actually put into play the plans we have been mentally rehearsing for about 3 months now. It does mean the office will be closed for a week at the end of October, because Shannen had already booked a holiday (its half term week)…and now we really are moving that same week! What have we discovered along the way: Kash and I have refined our state management even more to manage all the disappointments, missed deadlines and (sometimes) farcical professional services we’ve experienced over the past few weeks. Well Formed Outcomes…only work when everyone involved engages with them. Time distortion…definitely happens with lawyers Those with the most flexibility control the system…really? At the moment, we would challenge this as we’ve done our best to be really flexible and accommodating (hence cancelled or rearranged community cafes and clinics…since August)..and its not really worked to our advantage. Clear communication is key…we have learned new levels of ambiguity since starting this process, back in April! Future pacing, acting as if and visualisations…have been what has kept us sane throughout this process (although some might debate that!). Every day we have visualised living in our new home, what we are doing and being in our new space, to keep ourselves connected, especially when some days, hope was fading. Anchoring to key phrases, shared by friends and family, have become so precious – ‘keep the faith’, ‘this too shall pass’, ‘stay focused on the outcome’…they all help! Thank you for your patience whilst we have been practicing our NLP skills on this journey…we really are nearly there now so the new adventures can begin.
