Why Choose an ANLP Member?

When choosing an NLP professional or trainer, it is important to find the right person for you.

Back to Work with an NLP Professional

When choosing an NLP professional or trainer, it is important to find the right person for you.

That means choosing someone with appropriate training, relevant experience, professional standards, ethical awareness and accountability. Because NLP is not regulated in the same way as some clinical or professional fields, it can sometimes be difficult to know who meets those expectations.

Choosing an ANLP member gives you a clearer and safer starting point.

Why does this matter?

NLP may be used in personal development, coaching, training, education, business, wellbeing, leadership and organisational development. The quality of the work depends not only on the NLP tools being used, but also on the professionalism, ethics and competence of the person using them.

When you work with an ANLP member, you are choosing someone who has taken steps to be part of an independent professional body and to work within a recognised professional framework.

In other words, ANLP does some of your due diligence for you.

What does ANLP check?

All ANLP members go through minimum checks before becoming a member.

These include:

Qualifications
Members provide evidence of their NLP qualifications and certifications, which are validated and verified by ANLP.

References
Members provide external references from previous clients, supervisors or other relevant professional contacts.

Code of Ethics
Members agree to follow the ANLP Code of Ethics and to practise NLP in a responsible, ethical and professional way.

Complaints Procedure
Members are accountable through ANLP’s independent Complaints Procedure, should an issue arise.

Please note: if you engage the services of an NLP practitioner or trainer who is not a member of ANLP, ANLP will not be able to assist you with a complaint about their work.

How does this help you?

Choosing an ANLP member can help you feel more confident that the person you are considering has met ANLP’s membership requirements and has committed to professional standards.

It gives you a clearer basis for doing your due diligence and asking questions before engaging the services of an NLP professional.

A professional NLP practitioner or trainer will welcome these questions and answer them clearly.

What about higher professional standards?

In addition to ANLP’s minimum membership requirements, members may choose to apply for a Professional Standards Certificate at Bronze, Silver or Gold level.

This recognises additional elements of professional practice, which may include:

  • professional insurance
  • regular continuing professional development
  • client practice hours
  • peer mentoring or practice group attendance
  • supervision

These additional standards can give you further information when choosing the right NLP professional or trainer for your needs.

What should I do next?

Before working with any NLP professional or trainer, take time to check that they are the right fit for you.

Read their profile, look at their training and experience, ask questions, and be clear about what you want to achieve.

The ANLP Member Directory is a useful place to start. It allows you to search for NLP practitioners, master practitioners, trainers and accredited trainers who have chosen to be part of ANLP’s professional framework.
