According to Robert Dilts in his recent book NLP II: The Next Generation, NLP is primarily based on the presupposition that ‘the map is not the territory’. However, when it comes to relationships we often become hopelessly attached to the territory whilst forgetting that the map even exists. Song lyrics proclaim, ‘I can’t live if living is without you’, and if we broaden the concept of relationships out further, we hear people saying they could not live without their mobile phone/computer/ television etc....
