Mastering the Coach Approach

Module 4: Integrating Coaching Presence & Purpose - Major change happens at the level of identity, beliefs and values.

2nd - 16th February 2027

Whether you’re a parent, a manager, a leader, or thinking of starting a career in coaching, Mastering the Coach Approach introduces a way of communicating that can transform a life, a team, an organisation – even your family.

What is the Coach Approach and why do you want to master it?

The essence of The Coach Approach is being able to unlock the talent, ability and passion that people have within them.

This is what people pay a coach to do – but you don’t have to be a coach to do it. Good coaching skills can be learned and applied by anyone.

The Coach Approach is great for anyone looking to learn the fundamental principles and communication techniques that go into getting the best results out of individuals. But it’s also ideal for those seeking to take their first steps toward achieving ICF coaching certification.

What makes this programme unique?

  • Running just once a year, Mastering the Coach Approach is run entirely online making it available to you wherever you are in the world, and removing the time and cost of travel and accommodation.
  • Mastering the Coach Approach is made truly unique by our programme leaders: Pamela RichardeIan McDermott, Terrie Lupberger and Professor Patricia Riddell – four renowned Master Coaches from different schools of thought.
  • Lead facilitator Pamela Richarde is a pioneer in the field, and as co-creator of the International Coach Federation’s core coaching competencies has helped shape what we know coaching to be today. A Master Certified Coach (ICF MCC), a Professional Mentor Coach, an ICF Credentialing Assessor, and past President of the ICF Global; you will be learning from the very best (we have to say that as she’ll never say that herself!).
  • You’ll discover how to Master the Coach Approach – by learning how to apply coaching skills in just about any setting to draw the best out of people.

Module: Mastering the Coach Approach

Format: Four full days

Trainers: Ian McDermott and Pamela Richarde

Major change happens at the level of identity, beliefs and values. However, many conventionally trained coaches find it challenging to operate at these levels. Nor are they alone: the majority of organisations are only able to talk about ‘winning hearts and minds’. Very few know how to actually do this.

In this Integrating Coaching Presence & Purpose module we show you how to blend the wisdom of the different approaches you have learnt on this programme so that you can actually engage the hearts and minds not just of individuals but also of teams and even organisations.

  • How to apply the Coach Approach at an identity level.
  • Recognise the role of bias – both yours and others – and how to address it’s impact to enhance your coachng and the results you are achieving.
  • Explore personal and system cultures, and the influence the Coach Approach can have on these.
  • Learn and apply key distinctions in remdedial and generative coaching.
  • Recognising the importance of legacy as a focus for the Coach Approach.
  • Develop the self-as-coach with a focus on reason, purpose, vision and mission.

This is truly your integration module. It is also the precursor and prerequisite for official certification as a graduate of this ICF Accredited Coach Training Programme.

  • Review how the different approaches learned in previous modules fit seamlessley together.
  • Ensure you are using the right approach, at the right time.
  • Reflect on and appraise your skill development.
  • Recognise your impact in the context of the Coach Approach.
  • Clarify your pathway beyond this programme
  • Review the key ICF topics and behavioural markers, as well as identify the next steps for ICF accreditation.
