Ask the Training Company:

  • What is the format for the training course?
    • How many days or hours?
    • Number of modules and how many days per module?
  • Will there be assignments in between modules?
  • If a day or module is missed for any reason, will there be an opportunity to catch up?
  • Are the minimum suggested criteria for course content covered during the training?
  • Who are the trainers and for how many hours will these trainers be physically leading the training?
    • What qualifications does the trainer have?
    • What qualifications do the training assistants have?
  • Is the training accredited or recognised by any body or organisation? If so, what did they have to do do to get that recognition? Can you check with the organisation that they are recognised?
  • What is the minimum and maximum number of delegates on a course?
  • What is the cost of the course and, if relevant, is accommodation included or recommended?
  • Apart from the training, are there any other conditions and costs in achieving or maintaining certificated status?
  • Where and when is the course held? Include:
    • Does the cost of the course include full refreshments, or drinks, or are all refreshments extra?
  • Will travelling to the course be easy? And are there alternative routes and modes of transport, if necessary?
  • What type of process/approach to training is used and how is the course assessed?
    • Is there any pre-course work or written exam?
    • How are students assessed for competence?
    • Are manuals and handouts provided?
    • Are DVDs and/or CDs available or integral to the course?
  • What outcomes/goals does the trainer have for the course?
  • Who is willing to give me a testimonial about this course? Ask for contact names and addresses so that you can have the option to follow up with third party testimonials of the training.
  • What is the training company policy on cancellations and refunds?
  • What is involved in the certification process?
  • Is there any follow up or back up support offered, either during or after the course?

Before booking in-house company training, ask the trainer:

  • What professional certifications do you hold? Who are these recognised by?
  • How long have you been established?
  • What complementary experience do you have to offer?
  • Do you work in isolation or with other training associates?
  • What is your experience of training using NLP?
  • Are your fees based on a day rate or fee per delegate?
  • Can you supply references whom I may approach?

It is advisable to obtain information in writing and clarify any outstanding questions you may have before you go ahead so both parties understand the nature of their obligations to each other.

Ask yourself:

  • Am I ready to commit to NLP training?
  • What do I want from the training?
  • How will I know if I have achieved it?
  • What do I intend to do with my training?
