I work with people who live in demanding intellectual environments: university students, early‑career researchers and professionals in computing, data science and technology. My clients are often capable and motivated, yet feel overwhelmed, stuck in procrastination or unclear about their next academic or professional step.
As an Educational Coach & Mentor, my focus is to help you study and work better, think deeper, and move more confidently into the future you want.
I am Matias Garcia‑Constantino, NLP Practitioner with Advanced Coaching training (NLP School, UK) and holder of an International Certification in Mentoring & Coaching (Universidad Iberoamericana Puebla, Mexico). Alongside my coaching practice, I am a Lecturer in Computer Science at Ulster University and hold a PhD in Computer Science (Data Mining) from the University of Liverpool, plus a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Practice.
For more than a decade I have taught and supervised undergraduate, master’s and PhD students in areas such as Human‑Computer Interaction, Systems Development, Connected Health and Smart Environments, working at the intersection of Education, Research and Technology. This background means I understand both the human and technical pressures my clients face.
My style is:
Calm, structured and reflective – we create a clear space to think, feel and decide without judgement.
Outcome‑oriented and practical – every session connects insight with tangible next steps in your study, research or work.
Ethical and professional – aligned with ANLP’s EPIC values (Ethical, Professional, Independent, Credible) and clear coaching boundaries.
I draw on NLP tools (such as backtracking, reframing, anchoring and future pacing) from my NLP School training, coaching and mentoring frameworks from my Ibero Puebla training, and my experience in higher education to support you in making real, sustainable changes.
Clients usually come to me for one or more of the following:
Study habits and time management – building routines you can actually maintain, especially around programming, data‑science or research‑heavy work.
Procrastination and self‑regulation – understanding what really keeps you stuck and using NLP‑informed tools and behavioural strategies to move forward.
Confidence in research and presentations – making academic writing, talks, vivas and technical demos feel more manageable and authentic.
Career clarity and transitions – exploring next steps inside or outside academia, and designing paths that fit your values, strengths and life context.
Wellbeing in high‑pressure environments – setting boundaries, reducing “always on” stress and staying human in data‑driven or tech roles.
I particularly enjoy working with clients in STEM and data‑oriented areas, international students and professionals navigating cross‑cultural moves or bilingual careers.
We usually start with a 60 minute online session to clarify what you want to change and what “success” would look like for you. From there we co‑design a coaching and mentoring path, often over 6–8 sessions, with optional check‑ins during key moments (exam periods, thesis deadlines, job transitions).
I coach in English and Spanish, and work with clients based in the UK, Mexico and internationally. My practice is non‑therapeutic and, where relevant, I encourage collaboration with existing academic advising, supervision or counselling so we support you as a whole person, not just “a problem to fix”.
Clients tell me they appreciate that I:
Understand both the technical and human sides of their world (code, data, papers and emotions).
Offer structure without pressure – calm, organised sessions that lead to action, not more stress.
Bring a genuinely bilingual and bicultural perspective (Mexico–UK/Europe), which helps them feel seen when working across countries or languages.
If you are looking for a coach who speaks the language of academia and technology, and who can help you translate insight into sustainable habits and decisions, I would be happy to talk about how we might work together.
