Handling Complaints

ANLP has an official Complaints Policy, which includes a formal Complaints Process that is followed in the event of a complaint raised against an ANLP Member.

There’s a few things to notice about this…

The Complaints Procedure is run by an independent panel and their decisions, comments and recommendations are made without any involvement of the ANLP team.

ANLP acts on the decisions, comments and recommendations.

Those two points are important to make and gives both our Member and the general public confidence that we do our utmost to protect all parties and to reach understanding and agreement in all cases.

We do get complaints …on average, fifteen a year and the majority are from the general public about non-Members.  Whilst we are unable to get our Complaints Panel involved (we cannot guide, govern or answer for the ethics and practices of non-members) we do our best to advise the complainant of the routes available to them to have their case heard.  In some UK cases, it is the Advertising Standards Authority or UK National Trading Standards

We have seen a rise in the number of complaints about non-members and have recently been involved in a number of cases for advice regarding non-members…some of them ongoing…

Thankfully, on the rare occasions we receive a complaint about an ANLP member, these are usually settled through informal mediation and only one, in the last 10 years, has resulted in a formal panel hearing.

We urge anyone seeking NLP services to use the ANLP website Member Directory to research Members in their area who offer ethical and professional services.  We have created a great deal of material to help you in making an informed choice.  Please follow these guidelines to give you the best possible outcome on your NLP journey…
