Hi I'm Mark Phillips,
Having spent 35 years in the Army and Police, working in high pressure roles where sleep was often a last consideration, I've learnt first hand the negitive impacts of lack of sleep (or adaquet rest) brings to performance. Be it poor leadership, poor followership, or poor short and long term physical and mental health. For the last 10 years or so, I have been working with profeshional people who have by the very nature of their roles suffered from poor sleep, their industries are taking action to reduce accidents and improve working conditions. These changes bring benefits far beyond expectations and often have a ROI of over 5 times.
Nationally here in the UK the government (2023) estimate's £40bn a year is lost in productivity through tiredness and general fatigue.
I have qualified in CBT(I), along becoming a Master Practitioner of NLP, Master Coach & Master of Hypnosis. I have been an active trainer since the 1980s and facilitating industy workshops for 10 years, and can deliver key note talks.
I have a passion for fixing peoples Sleep, but you have to remember Sleep Issues are never about Sleep!!! Sleep issues are common at many times during our lives, Also many professions require us to work in what was once considered abnormal ways, learing to recognise our issues and how to deal with them can sometime be difficult because we are too close to the problem.
Why should we make a fuss, everyone seems the same as us, tired all the time time, its normal, Right? WRONG! but it has become a societal norm. The World Health Oragisation (WHO) speak of a First World, Sleep Crisis, epidemic.
You or your organisation will be better off if you fix your sleep issues earlier rather than later. Your Sleep issues are accumulative the impact on your long term health cannot be under estimated.
From increasing numbers of cases of ADHD to burn out we see the impact that lack of sleep has on our mental health, increasing obesity leading to Type 2 diabetes, heart failure and stroke all stem in part from lack of sleep also.
