Whilst we like to appear consistent and whole, perhaps we are simply a collection of parts. Personally, I find this idea very freeing as it takes the pressure off having to be 100 per cent sure about anything! I can honestly acknowledge that I’m (e.g.) 80 per cent on board with something (i.e. I have some reservations but I’m prepared to go with it) or that the ‘greater part of me’ says yes. In this sense, I could claim to be congruent with incongruence!...
