Why are website Backlinks important?

To research this blog, I keyed this into Google:

“Why are backlinks important?”  These three sites give you a good overview and are pretty quick reads.

For those of you who would prefer a 2-sentence summary, here it is:

“Backlinks (also known as “inbound links”, “incoming links” or “one way links”) are links from one website to a page on another website. Google and other major search engines consider backlinks “votes” for a specific page. Pages with a high number of backlinks tend to have high organic search engine rankings.” https://backlinko.com/hub/seo/backlinks (B Dean - accessed 14/05/20)

That means the more links you create between your website and others, the better your rating on Google will be.  You are creating the opportunity to get your website closer to the front page of Google.

You are more likely to be found in searches on Google.  That’s a big deal.

ANLP’s website has a huge amount of credibility.  We already rank highly on Google.  If you have your website listed in your profile (yes, you have a place to do this when updating your profile) and then put a link on your website back to your profile on ANLP, then you have created backlinks!

If you have set up your own website, then you will know how to create a link on it already – simply link it back to your profile on the ANLP website.

If your website is managed by a third party, simply ask them to create the backlink between your website and your ANLP profile.

Once you have your backlinks in place, this does more than give you a “Google Vote” of confidence.  It gives you credibility to your potential clients.  If they can verify that you are a current Member of ANLP quickly and easily by clicking on the link you have provided on your website, then you have made it easy for your clients to do their due diligence.
