Purchase Review

The book explores a variety of linguistic skills and how to apply them in online therapy. The skills employed are taken from the main scope of neurolinguistic theory and therefore focus on the words themselves and how the client presents them to the therapist.

NLP the online way!

‘Read between the lines’ is indeed a must have for NLP trainers and counsellors who are looking at offering therapy synchronously and asynchronously. Jethro has weaved in NLP concepts with great examples, practical models based on thorough research.

It can initiate a NLP educated reader to refreshing online terminology which lends context well for online therapy which already is the need of this day and age. The book format in a chat session is creative and gives a live flavour of online interaction. I can absolutely vouch for the chapters on Goal setting, asking questions and especially reading cures.

Also there is a fresh approach of not just working out the ‘how’ route in NLP but also the ‘why’. Jethro has displayed a functional side of certain question structures that NLP does not theorise - which highlights the exploring possibilities of what works.

Maybe the second edition could do with distinct sections; as it tends to get busy with reading a chat in a flow. The exercises ending at the book are mix of NLP and other approaches. There is more scope for better instructions for the chapter on working asynchronously.

Overall an interesting read for anyone who is exploring online therapy and counselling. Certainly worth a read get you therapy/ counselling going online!
