Failte / Welcome. I'm hugely curious about how NLP and coaching can support the learning and speaking of Scottish Gaelic and other languages.

If you're:

  • learning Scottish Gaelic at any level (or another of the UKs indigenous languages)
  • speak Gaelic
  • have children in Gaelic Medium Education (GME)
  • are considering GME
  • or work professionally within or on behalf of the Gaelic language and/or community

and maybe you

  • want to be more confident speaking
  • feel a bit stuck in your learning
  • looking for clarity
  • find yourself talking yourself out of things
  • are havering about making a decision
  • don't have Gaelic but your children do
  • something else

Then we might be a good fit. Often people find Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and coaching helpful to move beyond where they currently are. As a Master Practitioner of NLP I'd love to help. If you're already curious please email me at [email protected] to chat. Otherwise read on.

NLP can help to build your own resources so you feel confident and in the best place to learn and speak.  It can also help with any unhelpful thoughts that might pop in around how good your Gaelic is.  You might be surprised to notice how this work can also ripple out into other areas of your life.

My Gaelic journey began in 2012 with an introductory session. Working for an environmental charity at the time I loved how Gaelic is so linked to the landscape. I've been learning the language ever since. I know what that's like to try to fit learning around work and other commitments. I've worked in Cròileagan, Gaelic Medium Education (GME) and Gaelic Development for a local authority. This has given me lots of perspectives from different areas of the world of Scottish Gaelic. It's also led me to learn, be aware of and practice equity, diversity and inclusion.

It could be me, but I know from my language learning journey that I've hit plateaus and moments of stuckness.  If you're learning Scottish Gaelic or another indigenous language and also finding times of stuckness then I'm here to help.  I'm keen to use my skills, knowledge and connections to help others learn and use their Gaelic too.

Your journey with Gaelic is your journey.  Because I'm part of that world too, I am able to understand the topics you might speak about.  The methods you might have tried to date.  Making it easier to focus on you and the change you would like to make.

Beyond Gaelic the other area I like to help with is general everyday problems.  Those ones that you can't quite see a way through, or don't want to bother anyone with and a coaching conversation can really make a difference.

My approach in any session is to lead with compassion, curiosity and zero judgement.  Which means that I'm there to support you on what you would like to achieve.  If that means you decide to stop learning then that's ok too. My aim is to create a space in which you feel safe, heard, encouraged and valued.

Coaching sessions are online.  This means that you can choose the best place for you to be during a session. An added benefit is reducing impact on the planet through not needing to travel.  I also offer outdoor coaching via phone where we would both be outside at our locations.  The Gaelic language is so connected to the land and outdoor coaching can help to deepen this connection.

Trained in mindfulness, breath work and yoga, I might also draw on these strands if appropriate during a session.

I coach in English although I can hold a pretty good conversation in Gaelic.

To find out if I'm the right person for you, we would have a 20 minute discovery call.  This would give us an opportunity to see if we'd be a good fit and if you'd benefit from working with me.  If during our chat, I felt that something other than coaching might be more helpful, then I'd suggest that to you to see what you think.

You can book a call by emailing me and we can find a suitable time to talk.

Tapadh leibh airson a' leughadh.  Ma bhios ceist sam bith agaibh cuir post-d thugam. / Thank you for reading.  If you've any questions please send me an email.
