Reflecting on Chantal Burns’ feature in the Summer 2011 issue of Rapport, I recognised that beauty, or in this case, stress, is in the eye of the beholder. Nevertheless, working in the kind of environment in which I am lucky to find myself, the idea that ‘stress’ is just a construct, potentially a mere figment of my imagination, seems a cliché that is difficult to accept. Now, let me make clear that working in a school serving the needs of a very complex range of students presenting with issues including Aspergers, ADHD, ADD, school phobia, exclusion from previous schools and so on, is not the most challenging environment in which to work, nevertheless, the huge professional rewards to be had...
