We always communicate. Any time we get into the sensory range of another human being we start influencing him or her, and the interaction is always going both ways. When you listen you keep interacting with another person. This important idea is very easy to test. Simply listen with a stony face to the person talking to you. Listen, but don’t move a muscle. How long will this person continue talking? Will he want to, or be able to, keep communicating with you? What do you think?...
