“As a young woman I experienced the fall of Czechoslovakia, the ‘model’ camp of Terezin, the death camp of Auschwitz, and the concentration camps at Mauthausen and Bergen-Belsen. I was there from occupation to deportation to liberation, and during these years I fell passionately in love, became engaged and was tragically separated from my fiancé. But it was the symbol of his love – a tin ring – that gave me the strength to endure unimaginable suffering and hope that we would one day be reunited....
