A very gentle drive

"D.R.I.V.E to Peak Performance", authored by Roy Andrew McDonald, is a gentle introduction to the world of coaching. In this slim volume, his first book, he introduces us to his model for evaluating our lives and those of the people around us. Specifically, he uses the acronym "D.R.I.V.E", which represent the following aspects:
Destination
Reality
Inspiration
Vision
Effect

Within each of these aspects, he provides a list of questions as a means of reflection. Therefore, this book can be considered to be quite a stimulating read, requiring the reader to go beyond passive consumption to active engagement. It is also convenient that he repeats these questions at the end, along with text boxes for specific answers.

There were some inconsistencies with the book, including punctuation, grammar and syntax errors. There was also quite a lot of what could be considered filler content, which did not really add value, especially given the length of the volume. However, I did enjoy the personal anecdotes, quotations and book recommendations.

I think this book would be most suitable for those looking to have a very surface-level understanding of the overlapping spheres of coaching and personal development.
