Welcome to a new series of articles on research in NLP. Over the coming issues we will be exploring the area of research; from what it is, what constitutes evidence, to how we can develop skills to read and conduct research to get most value from it. As series editor, I will be liaising with academics and researchers in the field, who will share their experience and knowledge with the intention of raising the profi le of research in NLP.
