Community Spirit - The Gift That Keeps on Giving

A wonderful Community gathering, celebrating and reflecting for the last Community Café of 2024!

Every café is truly inspirational and brings us together in ways that we often don’t fully appreciate until we are in there in the moment.

What started as a way of connecting in covid has since gone on to become part of our monthly commitments, an open space to share, meet new people and experience a real sense of togetherness. Coming together and sharing in our experiences, branching out from our usual business day to days has been truly appreciated in this year’s café’s, especially today.

We reflected and shared so much that you really had to be there to experience the magic of community and here’s just some of the things we talked about, giving us even more to think about heading into 2025.

We touched upon the NLP Festival Ireland as Eoin Maher shared his experience from the event and Bernie Rogers, one of the organisers, explored the intentions behind the event. This really got us thinking about the NLP Festival coming up in Nottingham next year and we explored ways that we could continue to create events that stand out from the rest, giving focus to NLP People on a more personal level.

We revisited the topic of self-care; one we have spoken about on many occasions and somehow today’s conversation really hit home for many of us. We discussed the little wins we could implement in our routines, from coffee making and creative pauses to small bursts of exercise and we were reminded of how important a playful state can be in our learning.

Kash shared a great analogy which really got us thinking as a group,

“An air hostess will often tell you, in case of an emergency, to put your mask on before helping others”.

Another powerful reminder that to successfully support others it’s important to take care of ourselves! And isn’t that what self-care is all about, a smaller appreciation for a break occasionally to really take care of what you need in the moment?

So as the year draws to an end, we invite you to consider some of the smaller things you could implement in your own day to day schedule, they really could be the difference that make a difference to your self-care.

Is there a hobby you enjoy doing that you keep telling yourself you don’t have time for, or is there room in your diary to book a 5-minute break in for reflection?

I know that after today I feel more inspired and empowered to make time for me and I hope after reading this you will too!
