Coaching isn’t about fixing people but building on their strengths.  [email protected]   I have been working with neurodivergent students (children and adults) for 25 years and I am delighted to be involved in the NLP in Education project. 

Let me explain my journey wih NLP. Starting with the NLP Spelling strategy, I taught illiterate 11-year-olds in a special needs school, how to spell and read.  I realised that these students just hadn’t learnt how to visualise words, in their Visual Word Form Area,  and teaching this skill was easy. I made improvements to ensure it worked for not only those with poor literacy but also those diagnosed with Dyslexics.  Over 25 years I have developed an international network of Empowering Learning Practitioners.  The thousands of children and adults we have taught were all highly visual learners but had not been taught this simple visual skill. Then we realised that we are all born diverse visual thinkers, with exceptional visual thinking and learning skills.  With 21st century children thinking differently, this explains why learning differences get categorised into learning difficulties.  We then found that teaching visual skills was essential for those struggling with numeracy and for ADHD keeping control of mental imagery and reducing anxiety is a pre-requisite. I have personal experience of both Dyslexia and ADHD.
