Evidence-based practice: it is unlikely that you will not have heard this term being used. In some disciplines it is an essential component of changes to, and improvements in, practice (for example in healthcare). However, I suspect that some of you, especially if you do not work in healthcare, will not have stopped to reflect on what this really means in practice. What does it mean for ensuring in NLP that we use the best possible tools and techniques with our clients to optimise our results? How do we measure results?
