ANLP Certified CPD

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is not regulated by the government in the UK.  Instead, it is generally governed by the professional bodies or regulators specific to each sector.

As the Professional Body for NLP, ANLP International CIC (ANLP) provides Certified CPD certificates for Trainings, conferences, festivals, workshops, webinars and Masterclasses that meet the criteria listed below.  These CPD certificates are accepted by most employers (globally) as part of your records for your annual CPD commitments/requirements.  The certificates can also be used as part of the Professional Standards module, available on your ANLP Members dashboard.

CPD is important for professionals to stay up to date with the latest knowledge and research in their field.  It can also help them stay ahead of the competition and remain competent.

ANLP defines CPD as the learning experiences which help you develop and improve your professional practice.  Your ongoing professional development comes from anything that helps you to develop and improve your professional and personal practice in NLP.  It could be learning from:

  • a conversation with a colleague,
  • undertaking personal coaching or supervision,
  • doing a new piece of work,
  • working in a new team,
  • reading relevant documents, books, papers,
  • researching topics relevant to your work,
  • listening to a podcast or an audible book,
  • reflecting on the last few months of your work.

Criteria for ANLP Certified CPD

Any CPD bearing the ANLP Certified CPD logo must meet the following criteria:

  1. Is well organised/structured
  2. Has clear learning outcomes that are visible to the participant from the start
  3. Has measurable and/or assessed learning outcomes
  4. Allows participants to gain relevant and valuable knowledge and skills
  5. Documentation and/or evidence of the course/training/event meeting these criteria will be made available to ANLP on request.
  6. Participants are clearly informed that it is the participant’s responsibility to create and keep their own records of their attendance and involvement on/in the course/training/event.

Types of CPD

Structured/Formal CPD

Interactive study.  This can include attending trainings, conferences, seminars, workshops and synchronous webinars that are relevant to the professional’s field.   The learning outcomes for Structured CPD are well defined for each activity.  You will often get a certificate for each Structured CPD activity that details the activity, your name, the date and the number of hours and/CPD points awarded.

Reflective CPD

This can be passive learning followed by reflection.  Passive learning can be watching a recorded video/listening to an audio, reading a book, podcasts, case studies, industry news items, undertaking supervision, coaching or being a mentor/mentee, etc.  The important part of reflective learning is recording the personal reflections as evidence of learning and awareness.

Informal CPD

As it implies, Informal CPD is often unstructured, self-directed and self-justified.  To qualify as CPD, the activity must be relevant to your professional field and keeping records will assist in evidencing what you have done and how it has helped with your professional development.

A mixture of the CPD activity types listed above give you the scope for a broad range of learning for your professional development.  Some organisations require a mix of CPD to be compliant with their regulations.

CPD can bring many benefits including:

  • Professional Recognition: Completing CPD-accredited courses can enhance a professional’s credibility, often required for maintaining licenses or certifications in certain industries.
  • Record Keeping: ANLP Certified CPD activities typically provide certificates as records of your attendance and participation in a CPD activity.  For reflective and informal CPD, it is your responsibility to keep a record of all pieces of CPD that comply with the principles outlined above.

ANLP Certified CPD – What Do You Get?

For every ANLP Certified CPD event, a digital certificate can be issued stating the piece of CPD and the hours attended.  It is generally up to the CPD participant to record their CPD and up to the employer to decide how many CPD points are applicable for any event submitted as CPD.  CPD points are generally awarded 1 CPD point  for each hour of the CPD piece undertaken, however, this is at the discretion of the employer.

ANLP Accredited Trainer's NLP Training Courses are automatically ANLP CPD Certified because of the rigorous assessment they have undergone to ensure their training meets the criteria above.   Always check for the ANLP Certified CPD logo.
