Eating disorders do not discriminate by gender and approximately 25% of those affected with an eating disorder are male. People with EDs are at an increased risk of suicide and death. They have the highest mortality rate among psychiatric disorders with anorexia nervosa having the highest rate affecting young adults. This workshop aims to build awareness about eating disorders, especially anorexia nervosa, and provide ideas about what to do when you or someone you know is struggling. Who is this workshop for? This workshop is open to all. This is an entry-level presentation promoting to the general public how NLP can be the difference when you or someone you know has an ED. What do you need to bring to this session? Pen/Pencil/tablet device to write your learnings down (You may need this for your CPD records) Curiosity! Ask questions and share examples where these strategies and techniques can be applied. What will you leave with? The attendees will leave with more awareness about eating disorders overall, and specifically, they will have built their confidence about how to support themselves or others with an eating disorder. They will leave wanting to learn more about how NLP can help. Specifically, you will learn: About the myths around eating disorders How to spot early signs that someone is starting to develop an eating disorder About RAFASS, our model of the 6 stages of an eating disorder How NLP can help with an eating disorder From lived experience, how Sophie used NLP to support her in recovery from anorexia Your Trainers The session will be run by Lindsey Agness, Master Trainer of NLP and Sophie Baker, Trainer of NLP. Sophie is a long-term sufferer of anorexia who is now in recovery. She brings her unique lived experience to the session. Lindsey is Sophie’s mother, who has been her supporter for many years and has led the development of this NLP-based recovery approach. The session will be a mix of learning and practice. Our facilitators work interactively with the group and will use online engagement tools to bring the workshop to life.
