Bruce is the ANLP Regional Ambassador for Cambridgeshire and he is looking forward to assisting his local community in every way possible.

ANLP Roles

Dr Bruce Grimley developed a second career in psychology, becoming a chartered occupational and organisational psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a government licensed psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).  Bruce enjoyed his career as an operational manager and then a regional development and training manager for Royal Mail.  He loves living in the Cambridgeshire countryside with his wife and two children and three grandchildren living locally as well.

After taking an undergraduate degree in Psychology, he joined the BPS and the Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapy and Counselling Association, (NLPtCA) and undertook his NLP practitioner certificate with Joe Griffin and Steven Brookes in 1995.  It is with these qualifications he set out into the world with Achieving Lives Ltd, www.achieving-lives.co.uk in order to take NLP to the world.  Many qualifications followed and 30 years later, Bruce is an author of two peer reviewed books on NLP, many peer reviewed chapters and even more peer reviewed academic papers on NLP.  His doctoral thesis asked the question “What is NLP?”  You can see his published NLP books and chapters at http://tinyurl.com/38yucwpn

Bruce brings a wealth of experience to ANLP, being once accredited with them as a trainer (2008-2013), before he jumped headlong into academia and presenting at the first International NLP Research Conference held at Surrey University in 2008.  His latest paper tells psychologists off for being unscientific in their critique of NLP and is Co-Authored with Professor Katherine Dormandy, (2024).

Bruce is a senior practitioner of psychotherapy (ROPSIP) and was a director of the NLPtCA for 3 years (2017-2020).  Currently, he is a Master Trainer of NLP (International Association of NLP Institutes), having trained and assisted with John Seymour Associates for many years, obtaining certification at Advanced Practitioner (2000), Master Practitioner (2005) and Trainer level (2005).  Having been one of the first accredited coaches with the Association for Coaching (2005) and then one of their first accredited Master executive coaches (2012), Bruce is now Accredited as a Master Trainer of Coaching with the International Association of Coaching Institutes and is also a Chartered Coaching Psychologist registered with the BPS.

With his psychologist’s hat on, Bruce is registered as a psychometric test user, having qualified in administration and interpretation of many instruments.  Bruce also assessed for the BPS (2007-2012) and is currently on their Register of Qualifications in Test Use.  Bruce is also a psychology supervisor, being on the Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors.

Bruce enjoys competing for both G.B and England in duathlon and athletics respectively, winning the Silver medal in his age group at the G.B National duathlon championships in 2021 and consequently representing G.B. at the European Championships in Bilbao in 2022 (see profile picture).  Bruce was ranked 1st and 2nd respectively for the 20 miles and Marathon events in his age group in the UK in 2020.  Bruce continues to enjoy behavioural modelling to model top performers in sports and is representing G.B. again in 2024 at duathlon in Portugal.

Despite pressure being put upon Bruce by psychology colleagues to walk away from NLP, he has not done so because of his experience of the practical value provided for clients in their personal and professional lives.  He looks forward to being an ambassador for ANLP in the Cambridgeshire region and assisting his local community in every way possible.

Bruce Says

"22 years ago in 2002, I wrote my first article for the ANLP in The Rapport magazine called 'Sexy Variables'. This article shared 6 essential variables which I believe need to be present in successful change work. Since 1985 ANLP has been the flagship organisation representing NLP. I therefore feel a sense of excitement in being a part of a practical modality that still seeks to provide practical answers in today's complex society. I feel especially excited because of the ethical and value led leadership of both Karen and Kash Falconer which I believe is essential and instrumental to both the success and sustainability of  ANLP"
